WHEELING -- Taxpayers in Ohio County now can track progress on $76 million in construction projects taking place in the school district.
A chart detailing what work has started, and when it will be finished, can be accessed at mckinleydelivers.com/bond-project-updates/.
In May 2018, county voters approved a $42.2 million bond issue to pay for property improvements throughout the district. Work is slated to take place at each of the district's 13 school facilities.
The purpose of the website is to let the community see the progress being made on bond projects, and it will be updated regularly, according to Assistant Superintendent Rick Jones.
It is being administered by Sean Doyle -- a former Ohio County Schools teacher and wrestling coach who now is working for McKinley and Associates, the engineering firm coordinating work on the bond projects.
"Our interest is in helping support the county," Doyle said. "I know the interest in connecting these projects to the community is really top priority. We are committed to that."
The website currently shows projects to replace the roofs at Steenrod and Elm Grove elementary schools, and perform various renovations at Ritchie Elementary School are "in progress" and expected to be completed by August.
Likewise, work to replace the bleachers at Triadelphia and Wheeling middle schools is underway and should be done in July, according to the website. All projects on the list are anticipated to be finished by February 2021.
Jones told board the name of a potential clerk of the works to oversee the construction projects will be brought before them at their next meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 13.
