Beginning of I-70 Bridges Project Causes Delays
Motorists traveling east on interstates 70 and 470 in Wheeling encountered delays throughout the day Monday, as crews with Swank Construction continue preparation work for the I-70 bridges project.
Crews were milling pavement on the berm of the highway just east of the Elm Grove on-ramp to I-70. West Virginia Division of Highway officials said that I-70 east and west will be restricted to one lane from the Ohio state line to the Middle Creek Bridge, approximately one mile east of Exit 5, until Nov. 1.
This restriction is to allow Swank Construction to perform bridge deck patching, median crossover construction and shoulder reconstruction for the bridges project. Motorists are advised to expect delays.
