WHEELING -- A Columbus resident wanted on several felony charges was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Wheeling.
Jordyn Preston, 20, was arrested around 1 p.m. Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service Northern District of West Virginia.
Preston was wanted for multiple charges, including contempt of court on a charge of murder and felonious assault, felony assault/domestic violence, and violations of bond on the original charges of possession of a firearm while under felony disability and improper handling of a firearm.
Preston was released on $500,000 bond after his arrest for his alleged connection with a 2017 shooting which left a man, Van Johnson, dead, and his daughter, Elyzabeth Johnson, with serious injuries after an altercation in Columbus. Preston is said by police to have been the boyfriend of Elyzabeth Johnson at the time.
In March 2018, Preston was arrested in Springfield, and in July, posted bond, before violating the conditions of his bond by failing to appear in court. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Preston was arrested Tuesday on Wheeling Island, where he was allegedly found with 22 grams of cocaine.
He remains lodged at the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville while he awaits extradition.
