CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Board of Education will place a proposed charter schools policy on public comment for the next 60 days.
The board this morning approved placing the 47-page policy on public comment, but doubled the usual amount of time to give both board members and members of the public more time to consider the policy.
The charter schools policy is the result of House Bill 206 which was approved by the state Legislature earlier this year during a special session. The proposed policy would allow for three charter schools in the state beginning the 2021-22 school year and places the approval process in the hands of local school boards.
