Crews Working to Contain Chemical Spill on W.Va. 2 at Marshall/Wetzel County Line

The southbound lane of W.Va. 2 at the Marshall-Wetzel county line remains closed this morning as crews work to contain and clean up a corrosive chemical that leaked from a tractor trailer shortly after the truck left the Covestro Plant Sunday night. The cab of the truck separated from the tanker, resulting in TDI, a corrosive chemical, to escape onto the road and into Dry Run, according to Tom Hart, EMA director for Marshall County.

First responders from several departments are on scene along with the West Virginia Emergency Response Team, working to stop the chemical from flowing from Dry Ridge into the Ohio River.

West Virginia Division of Highways officials are not sure when the road will reopen.

Starting at $2.99/week.
