Logan’s Roadhouse Closes at The Highlands

TRIADELPHIA -- Logan's Roadhouse employee Chelsea Kernan suspected the restaurant was nearing its end when it ran out of steak and other food items last weekend.
Wednesday would have marked Kernan's fifth-year anniversary working at Logan's, but she didn't get to celebrate. Logan's is now closed to the public.
"This weekend, we ran out of food," Kernan said of the restaurant. "They told us a truck was coming on Monday but it didn't come. They lied to us and said it wrecked. They said it would come Tuesday."
Company representatives instead came to the location on Tuesday, and informed employees the restaurant was closing.
The doors to the restaurant were officially locked at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and all employees were told to be out by 9:30 p.m., Kernan said.
Notes pasted on the entrance to Logan's on Wednesday thanked patrons, stating, "The moments you've shared with our team have been phenomenal and we appreciate the support you've shown us. Unfortunately, this location is now closed."
A second message thanked employees for their service, and offered a toll free number they could call with "concerns or questions."
Corporate executives couldn't be reached for comment, but Kernan said employees were told the restaurant wasn't making enough profit to pay for its lease.
Kernan and her husband Robert, a grill cook, were both five-year employees at the Logan's locations.
She came to Logan's after working at the Cracker Barrel restaurant at The Highlands, which closed in similar fashion in 2015.
"I told them (Logan's managers) then, 'I just want a permanent home,'" Kernan said.
She and her husband both have been offered jobs at other locations within the Logan's family of businesses, and that other local restaurants both at The Highlands and elsewhere immediately reached out to hire displaced Logan's employees.
Kernan said she plans to work at the Bath and Body Works at the Fort Steuben Mall, which is closer to her home in Weirton.
For the time being, she continues work assisting in the dismantling of the Logan's at The Highlands. Employees were offered pay to work to remove equipment and furnishings from the restaurant, if they wished to do so.
"I'm dedicated," she said. "I helped open it, now I'm helping to shut it down. It's a heartbreaking situation."
