Schools in Marshall and Ohio counties will be holding food pickup locations for students while classes are out of session due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Ohio County Schools announced this weekend that bagged breakfast and lunch meals will be available for students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at 10 sites across the county.
They include Bethlehem Elementary School at the gymnasium door; Bridge Street Middle School at the parking lot door; Elm Grove Elementary School at cafeteria Door #6; Madison Elementary School at the side door near North York Street; Middle Creek Elementary School at the front of the school; Ritchie Elementary School at the front of the school; Triadelphia Middle School at the front of the annex building; Warwood School at the elementary cafeteria door, West Liberty Elementary School at the back door; and Woodsdale Elementary School at the front of the school.
The times and locations are subject to change, and school officials said they are working to include additional community sites. There will be no meal pickup at Wheeling Park High School, Steenrod Elementary School and Wheeling Middle School, school officials said.
Meals will be provided to students until the school closure is lifted.
Gov. Jim Justice said all schools in the state will be closed until at least March 27, although it could extend beyond that date.
In Marshall County, the pop-up market locations at the seven elementary and middle schools and the board office will be supplemented with additional mobile food bus drop-offs at 21 locations on various weekdays across the county. Any student or parent is permitted to visit any bus location.
On Mondays, they will be at Big Run Community Center and Limestone VFD at 11 a.m.; Eagle Hollow Apartments at 11:45 a.m.; Cameron Elementary School at 12:15 p.m. and St. Jude Park at 12:30 p.m.
On Tuesdays, they include Dallas VFD at 11 a.m.; Stacey Cross Apartments at 11:45 a.m.; Sand Hill Church at 1 p.m.
On Wednesdays, they include Oak Grove Church and Fish Creek Community Church at 11 a.m.; St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:45 a.m.; and Rustic Hills Apartments at noon.
On Thursdays, they include Dorsey Street Apartments and Benwood Park at 11 a.m.; McMechen Park at 11:45 a.m.; and Hillview Apartments at noon.
On Fridays, they include Woodlands Knolls Apartments and Washington Lands VFD at 11 a.m.; Robert's Ridge VFD and Graysville Community Center at 11:45 a.m.; and Bowman Ridge Community Center at 12:30 p.m.
The pop-up markets will be Tuesdays at Center McMechen Elementary from 10-11 a.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. at Moundsville Middle; on Wednesdays at Washington Landings Elementary from 10-11 a.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. at the Board of Education Office; on Thursdays at Cameron Elementary from 10-11 a.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. at Sherrard Middle; and on Fridays at Sand Hill Elementary from 10-11 a.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. at Glen Dale Elementary.
