Wheeling Hospital to Open Drive-Through Coronavirus Site at Wheeling Park

1 min read

Wheeling Hospital is opening a drive-through testing site at Wheeling Park beginning Wednesday to test people displaying symptoms of COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus.

The drive-through site is located between the Stone Building and Memorial Ice Rink, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The nasal and throat swabs will be conducted while people remain in their cars under temporary tents set up in the parking lot. The specimens will then sent to a private lab for testing and the results will be forwarded to the patient’s doctor.

Only people with symptoms, which include fever, shortness of breath and coughing, along with anyone who traveled to an affected area or have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, will be considered for testing.

Patients must first call the hospital "COVID-19 one-call number" at 304-221-3995 and speak to a "nurse navigator" to be considered for testing. If the person is a candidate for testing, their information will be sent to the testing center.

People can also consult their primary care physicians, who will then consult with Wheeling Hospital about potential testing.
