The Marshall County Health Department on Saturday received confirmation of two additional new positive COVID-19 cases. Both individuals are females, the first in her 70s and the second in her 30s. Both are reporting mild symptoms and are currently in isolation at their respective homes. Marshall County Health Department staff will be checking in with them daily checking symptoms and temperature.
This brings Marshall County to 32 confirmed cases, 8 of which are in isolation at home and 24 of whom have been released from isolation.
The department said it knows from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms ("asymptomatic") and that even those that eventually develop symptoms can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms ("pre-symptomatic"). This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in a close proximity, for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing, even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. In light of this evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain such as grocery or retail stores, public activities or anytime you are out around other people.
