Light in-person turnout Tuesday morning for W.Va. primary
WHEELING — Ohio County Elections Coordinator Toni Chieffalo said it’s “not your usual turnout” in regard to a light stream of voters hitting the polls Tuesday morning to vote in the delayed 2020 primary election.
Many people took advantage of early voting and the state’s mail-in ballot system to cast their vote early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, some voters headed to their polling precincts Tuesday as usual to cast a ballot in person.
At Bethlehem Elementary School, precinct workers said turnout through 11 a.m. had been slow but steady, with one or two voters at the precinct at any given time. Much the same happened this morning at Short Creek United Methodist Church on North Fork Road.
Chieffalo said there had been no problems reported through noon Tuesday at polling places.
Those who are voting in-person are asked to wear a mask into the precinct.
