Ohio County has four new COVID-19 cases, the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department announced Tuesday, bringing the overall total of positive cases since the start of the pandemic to 46.
According to data from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, of the 46 positive cases, 37 have recovered and nine are active. There also has been one death recorded in Ohio County.
Other information from the state DHHR provides an interesting look into the county’s testing and recorded cases. As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, when the state still had only 42 positives recorded from Ohio County, 25 of those positive cases were female, 17 were male.
Of the 42 positive cases, 40 of those recorded are listed as white, while the remaining two are “other.” There have been no reported cases among the county’s African-American population.
From an age standpoint in Ohio County, 7 percent of cases are from those age 10-19; 21 percent, ages 20-29; less than 5 percent, ages 30-39; 26 percent, ages 40-49; about 12 percent, 50-59; 17 percent, 60-69; an 12 percent, 70 and older.
