Ohio County sees 5 new COVID-19 cases, Marshall County 3

Friday evening, the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department announced five new COVID-19 cases, bringing the county’s total since the pandemic’s beginning to 85, with one death.

Three new cases also were reported in Marshall County, bringing the total there to 46. Seven of those cases are active and the remaining 39 have been removed from isolation. Cases in which the patient has recovered were not immediately available for Ohio County Friday evening.

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department continues to monitor an outbreak of COVID-19 at the First Baptist Church in Wheeling, WV. At this time, the health department is monitoring 12 positive cases of COVID-19 linked to the church. The church leadership is working with the health department to ensure all people exposed have been contacted and tested.

Ohio County and Ohio Valley residents are advised to limit public contact, implement social distancing, work at home where possible, wear a face covering when out in public or at work, wash your hands frequently and contact your personal physician if you become ill with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
