Second Marshall County Man Dies of COVID-19

MOUNDSVILLE — A second person has died due to COVID-19 in Marshall County, Marshall County Health Department officials announced late Thursday afternoon.

The 67-year-old victim was on a ventilator at the time of his death, according to a press release from the health department.

“The thoughts and prayers of the staff at the health department and all county offices are with the family and friends of this gentleman during this difficult time,” the release stated in part.

“We all have a role to play in limiting the spread of this virus. We continue to urge all individuals to wear a face covering when in public when they are unable to maintain social distancing.”

The first death associated with the coronavirus in Marshall County was a 73-year-old man who died Aug. 2.

Also on Thursday, a student at John Marshall High School was reported to have contracted COVID-19 through community spread, unrelated to another such case that had been reported Wednesday, and another last week. The health department’s release indicated the student was a male in his teens exhibiting mild symptoms.
