Marshall, Ohio Counties Still In High-Risk Categories
Ohio County remained “orange” on Sunday’s West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources COVID daily alert map, while Marshall County remained “red,” though their numbers in the map’s two main metrics were lower than the day before.
Ohio County had a 97.63 infection rate, down from 100.73 on the Saturday map, and a percent positivity of 6.41, down from 6.61 on the Saturday map.
Marshall County had an infection rate on Sunday’s map of 90.77, down from 97.79 on Saturday’s map.
Its percent positivity was 8.40, down from 9.02 on Saturday’s map.
Marshall County was one of five “red” counties Sunday, joining Ritchie, Wirt, Mineral and Berkeley.
Ohio County was one of 17 “orange” counties. “Red” is the highest-risk category West Virginia counties can enter on the map. “Orange” is the second-highest.
The Marshall County Health Department reported 19 new COVID-19 positive cases Sunday night, along with two probable cases.
That puts the county’s totals at 928 confirmed cases, 136 probable cases, 16 hospitalized and 14 associated deaths.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department announced 29 new positive COVID-19 cases Sunday night, bringing Ohio County’s totals to 1,362 cases and 16 COVID-related deaths.
The Marshall County Health Department will hold COVID-19 testing at its site at 513 6th St. in Moundsville on Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon.
Marshall County Health Department staff who may be working over Thanksgiving weekend only will be calling those who tested positive and not returning calls from those seeking their test results. The department suggests logging onto wv.getmycovidresults.com and creating an account.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department will hold testing at three sites Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday testing will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Wednesday testing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Sites will be the Valley Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 355 Fire House Lane, Valley Grove; Warwood Fire Station, Station 9, 1301 Richland Ave.; and Wheeling Island Fire Department, Station 5, 11 North Wabash St.
The free clinics are for those with or without symptoms and no insurance is needed. Participants need to bring a driver’s license, photo ID or other proof of address. No residency restrictions. Patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is a drive-up testing clinic and participants will be tested either in their personal vehicles or at a walk-up location near the testing sites.
