A mass text on the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department’s Wednesday COVID-19 vaccination clinic contains false information, the department announced Tuesday morning.

The department was alerted Tuesday about a mass text announcement claiming residents age 80 and older did not need an appointment for Wednesday’s clinic. That is false. At this time, all COVID-19 vaccinations are done by appointment.

The department stated it has not sent out any mass text announcements. The numbers from the mass text announcement are not from a 304 area code. The department said for residents to not come for a COVID-19 vaccination unless they have an appointment with a time.

Wednesday’s clinic will be held by appointment from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the City/County Building at 1500 Chapline St. in Wheeling.
