Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will serve as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Cybersecurity Subcommittee for the 117th Congress. He will also serve on the Subcommittee on Airland and the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces.

"West Virginia is one of the most patriotic states in the nation and during my time in the Senate, I have worked hard to ensure the brave men and women serving their country receive the funding, equipment and training they need to succeed," Manchin said. "As technology continues to develop and play an integral part in our daily lives, we must ensure we are equipped to handle every cybersecurity threat that comes our way. I am proud to chair the Senate Armed Services Cybersecurity Subcommittee and will work closely with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to keep Americans safe from threats both seen and unseen."

The Subcommittee on Cybersecurity oversees policies and programs related to cyber forces, operations, and capabilities.

Manchin previously served as the Ranking Member of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee and has been outspoken on the need to keep America's military strong and capable of confronting cybersecurity threats.
