WELLSBURG -- The floating of a new bridge span to its final position across the Ohio River has been pushed back once again.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation and Flatiron Construction announced this afternoon the movement of the Wellsburg Bridge has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

Plans, which could be changed because of weather, are now to begin floating the main bridge structure on a series of barges beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. It is expected to be put in position sometime that afternoon, with plans to lift the structure onto its piers beginning early Tuesday.

The project has been delayed multiple times in the last week as a result of weather concerns.
