Fireworks light up the night sky Saturday during Oglebay Park's Fourth of July festivities, which drew thousands of Ohio Valley residents. Wheeling's annual Fourth of July event is set for today, with an afternoon of fun and food at Heritage Port leading up to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra's performance at 7:30 p.m.

"The concert starts at 7:30, and in the middle of the 1812 Overture, you'll start hearing the first booms of the celebration," Symphony Executive Director Bryan Braunlich said. "Who doesn't love hearing 1812 and Stars and Stripes Forever as the fireworks go off?"

In addition to the food and flash, WVU Medicine and the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department will be on hand, ready to administer doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Health Administrator Howard Gamble had previously said the aim was to reach as many people as possible who could not normally find time during normal clinic hours to get vaccinated.
