Wheeling Man Arrested On Robbery Charge
A Wheeling man was arrested overnight following a robbery at a downtown convenience store, according to the Wheeling Police Department.
Joshua Arocho, 38, was arrested on charges of second-degree robbery and taken to Northern Regional Jail pending arraignment. According to WPD, officers patrolling the area of 14th and Market streets just after midnight Monday heard people yelling outside of the 7-Eleven. Officers then saw a man running from the store and employees told them the man had just robbed them.
WPD officers followed the man, chased him on foot and caught him in the 1200 block of Main Steet, according to police reports. Arocho allegedly tried fighting the officers, but was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.
According to WPD, the 7-Eleven employees told officers Arocho approached them and demanded money from the register, and then fled the store. A weapon was not displayed at the time of the incident, according to WPD.
