A body was recovered from the Ohio River on Monday night about a mile north of the 12th Street Bridge near Moundsville, Moundsville Police Chief Tom Mitchell said.
The body was discovered Monday in the river near the Ohio shore by a couple of fishermen in a boat, Mitchell said. Moundsville volunteer firefighters and Moundsville police officers retrieved the body.
The body is believed to be man's, Mitchell said. It likely had been in the river for several days. There was identification on the body, but Moundsville police have not released the person's name. The body will be taken to determine the person's identity and the cause of death.
