File Photo Brian Goff and Joni Davis of Martins Ferry — has been missing since June 10, 2018. Local law enforcement officers have scheduled a news conference, likely to announce their bodies have been found.

STEUBENVILLE — Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas confirmed Thursday afternoon that the bodies of two people who had been missing for more than three years have been recovered.

And during a press conference Thursday in Jefferson County, Sheriff Fred Abdalla said the remains of Brian Goff, 64, and Joni Davis, 55, were found Thursday inside the vehicle that they were last seen in — Goff's light blue 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

The couple was last seen on June 10, 2018, leaving a Pizza Hut on National Road in St. Clairsville. Goff was Davis' caregiver. Davis previously suffered a traumatic brain injury.

The discovery was made by an Illinois-based dive team working in the Ohio River near Rayland. The vehicle was found in the Ohio River between 1 or 2 miles north of the Rayland Marina, Abdalla said. The depth of the water the car was in was about 8 feet.

Abdalla said they do not have a cause of death as the remains must be forensically studied by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
