Wheeling Central’s Nathan Dieffenbaugher, Linsly’s Danyelle Dunlevy Awarded Wheeling Elks Scholarships

WHEELING -- Two of the area's top high school seniors have won scholarships from the Wheeling Elks, and now are eligible for even more awards.
Danyelle Dunlevy of The Linsly School, and Nathan Dieffenbaugher of Wheeling Central Catholic High School have won the 2021-22 Wheeling Elks Scholarships. Each will receive $1,000 from Wheeling Lodge 28, according to Elks Youth Activities Chairman Joe Marchlenski.
Both are now eligible for further Elks scholarships at the state and national levels.
"We believe it is important to recognize outstanding leadership and scholarship qualities in the youth of our area," said Elks Exalted Ruler Jim Tekely. "We are proud that more than $4 million in scholarships is awarded nationally by the Elks each year."
Dunlevy is a Senior Prefect and editor of the yearbook at Linsly. She also serves as class treasurer and is the captain of the Figure Skating Club. She is also an AP Scholar in both English Language and Composition and Psychology.
She volunteers a vast amount of her time to various community service projects, many of which are at her church, St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. She also hand-makes blankets and donates them to the local animal shelter. Dunlevy plans to attend the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, and major in psychology.
Dieffenbaugher is student council president at Wheeling Central, and captain of both the Science Bowl and Quiz Bowl teams. He is also a freshman orientation volunteer.
He is a four-year member of both the soccer and tennis teams, and serves as treasurer of the French Club. He also is an AP Scholar in both English Language and Composition and Statistics. Dieffenbaugher plans to attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and major in Finance.
