Check Your Tickets: $3 Million MegaMillions Winner Sold in St. Clairsville

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – BellStores management is thrilled to have sold a $3 million Mega Millions ticket at the St. Clairsville store.
Toni Mingus, manager of the St. Clairsville BellStores, said she received a call from the Ohio Lottery at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday alerting store employees that they had sold the winning ticket. The ticket purchased matched five number, but not the Mega Ball, which is good for $1 million. The ticket also had a 3X "Megaplier," which boosted the winnings to $3 million.
"It’s very exciting,” she said, adding that a fellow manager from the New Philadelphia area had actually sent a screenshot of a report regarding the news just prior to receiving the official call.
"It had already been on the news, but we haven’t heard yet."
Mingus said the lottery office did not indicate the time or date when the ticket was sold. As of Wednesday morning, she said they had only had a few people come in to have their tickets checked with the winner yet to be identified. The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night were 7, 29, 60, 63, 66, and the Mega Ball was 15.
Mingus said the multi-million dollar ticket was "definitely" the largest winning ticket she has ever sold while working for the company. She said they are now waiting for the ticket holder to come forward
"It’s really just up to the person to check their tickets to see if they’re the winner," she said.
"Stop in and see us."
The store will receive $1,000 commission for the winning ticket sale, according to Mike Bycko, communications manager for the Ohio Lottery.
"When a store sells a winning ticket, they get a bonus commission for selling the winning ticket for the million dollar prizes — when you get the five numbers but you don’t get the Mega Ball," he said.
Bycko said retailers that sell a jackpot ticket receive $1,000 per every million dollars that the jackpot is, up to a maximum of $250,000. In the case of the $3 million ticket, the store will receive $1,000 because the ticket holder actually hit for $1 million but chose the multiplier which tripled the prize amount. The store will only get commission on that amount and not the multiplied amount.
No one hit the $830 million Mega Millions jackpot in Tuesday's drawing. Friday's drawing is anticipated to exceed $1 billion for a winning ticket with all numbers plus the Mega Ball.
