Two people were killed in a plane crash this morning in Marietta, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The plane crashed on Pike Street.
The Beechcraft 90 airplane, commonly called a King Air, was enroute to the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport in Wood County, Bill Richardson, president of the Wood County Airport Authority, said. The plane had not been at the airport in Wood County, he said.
The craft has a capacity of six to 10 passengers, Richardson said. It is unknown how many people were aboard the plane.
The crash occurred around 7 a.m. near a automobile dealership. Eight cars were burned and the smoldering remains of a plane could be seen by passersby.
Several law enforcement agencies and fire departments from Reno, Marietta and Williamstown are on scene.
