Randy Wharton to return for another 6 years on Ohio County Commission

Ohio County voters on Tuesday chose Randy Wharton to return for a fourth, six-year term on the Ohio County Commission.
Unofficial election night returns showed Wharton, a Democrat incumbent, with 7,249 votes while his Republican challenger, Dave Palmer, had 5,574 votes.
Wharton currently serves as the county commission's president, as well as president of the Ohio County Development Authority -- the agency that oversees the county-owned property at The Highlands. Additionally, he is chairman of the County Public Service Board and a member of the County Fire Board. Prior to being elected commissioner, Wharton also served on Wheeling City Council.
He is a graduate of West Liberty State College and has an MBA from the former Wheeling College. He started out as an officer with the Wheeling Police Department but later went on to take over the family's business, Wharton Auto Center. He has operated the business for 46 years.
