Crews begin erecting precast walls Tuesday afternoon at the site of the new Wheeling Fire Department headquarters at the corner of 17th and Wood streets in Wheeling. The new facility will be a 24,860 square-foot single-story structure, which will include space for additional trucks, areas for hands-on training such as a hose drying/training tower, a large training room, offices for command staff and bunk rooms/sleeping quarters for firefighters.
