W.Va. Attorney General Morrisey announces run for governor

HARPERS FERRY - West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey today announced his official bid for Governor of the State of West Virginia.

"Today, I come before you with a clear purpose and a conservative record that's second to none. I am seeking the Republican nomination for governor of West Virginia," said Morrisey during his announcement remarks.

Morrisey announced his run for West Virginia Governor in front of a crowd of supporters at the Clarion Inn in Harpers Ferry. He joins a crowded Republican primary field that includes two other state office holders: Secretary of State Mac Warner and Auditor JB McCuskey, along with businessman Chris Miller.

"I'm the only proven conservative in this race with a deep record of fighting and defeating the swamp and the political elites, successfully defending our West Virginia values, and accomplishing the big things West Virginians care about,” he said. "As governor, I'll protect our jobs, fight to put more money in your pockets, advance educational excellence, supercharge economic and workforce growth, and defend families from the ravages of drugs and the woke, anti-freedom forces facing us.”

Morrisey has served as West Virginia's attorney general since being elected in 2012. Over his decade-long tenure as West Virginia's top defender of the law, nationally known as a leader in the fight against federal overreach, Morrisey has secured countless wins for the Mountain State and conservative West Virginia values.

Morrisey has been the public face of some of the nation's most significant legal victories in recent years. He spearheaded the West Virginia v. EPA case, protecting energy jobs and limiting federal regulations. Morrisey was a leading advocate of bringing constitutional carry to West Virginia citizens, led the effort to successfully defend the state's school choice laws, is the first pro-life Attorney General in state history and defends West Virginia's pro-life laws.
