United States Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will visit Wheeling on Tuesday to get a closer look at the city’s Downtown Streetscape Project, the Department of Transportation announced Friday afternoon.

Buttigieg will join Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott and other community leaders to see progress on the project, where several miles of downtown Wheeling streets are being renovated and revitalized. The project is being funded in part by a $16 million federal RAISE grant which is part of the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Buttigieg will also travel to Pittsburgh later that day, where he will join First Lady Jill Biden and U.S. Department of Labor Deputy Secretary Julie Su to meet with local officials and key stakeholders leading the local Investing in America Workforce Hub.
