Victim ID’ed In Fatal Bethany Pike Crash

The name of the victim in a Tuesday morning fatal crash on Bethany Pike has been released.
The Wheeling Police Department said that Devin Michael Sovinsky, 17, of Triadelphia, was killed in the crash, which also injured two others - an adult male and juvenile female. The two were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital. Their names have not yet been released.
Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to WPD. The crash remains under investigation.
According to WPD, Wheeling police and fire were notified about the crash around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday when an individual in the area placed a 911 call.
The vehicle was traveling south on Bethany Pike, police said, when it lost control near Hogwait Place and crashed into the guardrail, leaving the vehicle in the area of the creek bank.
A portion of Bethany Pike near Howgait Place was closed by police following the crash. The road reopened early Tuesday afternoon.
