WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital

WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital will be under a “precautionary lockdown” until 7 a.m. Friday, hospital spokesman Phillip Carl said Thursday night.

Threats made to the hospital on social media Thursday afternoon necessitated an investigation, Carl said, and law enforcement authorities concluded the threats were enough to issue a precautionary lockdown. Carl did not know exactly what the threats were, nor on which social media site the threats were made.

Until 7 a.m. Friday, the only point of entry for the hospital will be through the emergency room. After 7 a.m. Friday, local law enforcement will make periodic stops at the hospital to check in.

Carl said WVU Medicine is grateful for law enforcement and the quick manner with which it addressed the situation.
