All across the Ohio Valley, high school football teams are working to get a leg up on their competition in the race for championships. And fans of those teams can't wait to pack the stands to cheer them on in that quest.
The 2023 football season begins this week in Ohio, with the slate in West Virginia to commence next week. The scene gets set tonight with a group of intriguing games. Bridgeport heads to Frontier and River hosts Colonel Crawford, while perennial powerhouse Steubenville, a Division IV state semifinalist last season, heads to Youngstown to face an Ursuline team that made the Ohio Division III Region 9 semifinals last season.
A full slate of games comes Friday, including tilts like Martins Ferry at Shadyside, Barnesville at Buckeye Local, Bellaire at Garaway and St. Clairsville at Canton South.
