Tornado Watch Issued For Area Until 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 6 p.m. for Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties in West Virginia and Belmont and Monroe counties in Ohio, among other areas. A tornado watch means that weather conditions in the area make it possible for a tornado to occur.
The NWS is calling for showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 5 p.m., in then area, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Southwest winds are predicted around 14 miles an hour with a chance of precipitation of 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
Tonight, the NWS is calling for showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 60%. The NWS is predicting partly to mostly sunny skies for Tuesday and Wednesday.
