Paden City Water ‘Do Not Use’ Order Lifted

The “do not use” order for Paden City’s water system has been lifted, city officials announced on social media Tuesday.
Residents will need to flush their water lines to eliminate tetracholroethylene (PCE) that is still there, the Paden City Water Department stated. To do so, customers must flush their lines, including their hot water heaters, by running both hot and cold faucets in their homes for at least five minutes. Refrigerator water lines also must be flushed for at least five minutes, those with automatic ice makers should make at least three batches of ice and all household water filters must be changed once flushing is completed.
Commercial customers may have to extend their flushing times.

At a Monday night city council meeting, Mayor Steve Kastigar informed Paden City residents that the city had three consecutive water test results that showed levels of PCE are below allowable limits.
