On the third day of Garson Taylor's trial, the former fire chief was found guilty of three misdemeanor charges — brandishing a firearm. Taylor was also found guilty of the other misdemeanor charges of fleeing from an officer in a vehicle and obstructing an officer.
He was found not guilty of the felony charges of wanton endangerment with a firearm and strangulation, along with the misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
The charges stem from an altercation between Garson Taylor and his ex-wife, Tayler Hebb, on April 10. When officers arrived at the couple's house on McMechen Street, Taylor fled the scene in his truck, ignoring the officer's orders to leave the vehicle.
For the misdemeanor charges, Taylor could face up to a year in jail for each. Whether these charges run consecutively or concurrently is to be decided by the court.
Taylor's fleeing resulted in a chase between him and law enforcement that culminated in an hour-long standoff between Taylor and officers on a gravel road off Route 2.
Taylor's sentencing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 9.
