WHEELING -- This morning's weather, coupled with power and phone outages, has led to school closures and also emergency lines being down in several local counties.
E-911 operations in Brooke, Marshall and Ohio counties currently are operational -- but calling 911 won't work. Instead, officials say to use the following numbers for emergencies:
Ohio County -- 304-234-3711; for fire or other emergency medical services calls, use 304-234-3606, and for county police departments, 304-234-3661.
Brooke County -- 304-639-9180 or 304-374-6354.
Marshall County — 304-843-1500, extension 0
The outage, according to local officials, is affecting 911 Communication Centers statewide.
For schools, a half-dozen crashes this morning on U.S. 250 due to slick road conditions has led to the closure of Cameron's public schools. The road leading to the high school is closed.
In Brooke County, Brooke Primary South is closed due to a power outage.
Further south, near Morgantown, heavy snow this morning led to all classes prior to 10:30 a.m. at West Virginia University being cancelled. Interstate 79 near Morgantown also has been moving very slowly this morning due to bad road conditions and accidents.
