Ohio County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday, the school district announced Tuesday evening.
The district said the freezing temperatures expected Wednesday morning and the wind chill advisory for the area necessitated the move.
According to the National Weather Service, a wind chill advisory is in effect for the area from 10 p.m. Tuesday to noon Wednesday. Actual temperatures are predicted to dip to as low as 7 degrees Tuesday night and wind chills could make the temperature feels as cold as minus-9 degrees Tuesday night and minus-10 on Wednesday.
Wind gusts up to 29 miles per hour are expected Wednesday.
