Two Babies Born in First 15 Minutes of New Year in the Ohio Valley

WHEELING -- At least two newborn infants were anxious to start both life and 2024 early on New Year's Day.
WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital reported a baby boy born at 12:13 a.m., while Trinity Hospital also had a boy born just two minutes later at 12:15 a.m.
Ezekiel Elliott was born at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital to parents Kevin and Brianne. He weighed 6 pounds, 7.9 ounces and measured 18 inches long, according to information provided by the hospital and Phillip Carl, communications director for WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital.
Dr. Peter Bala delivered Ezekiel, as well as the last baby of 2023 at Wheeling Hospital on Sunday night.
The New Year's baby at Trinity Hospital is the child of mother Taylor Mencer and father, Rashaen Mitchell. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and is 19 inches long.
The young boy has yet to be named, said Laurie Labishak, public relations director for Trinity Health Systems.
No births had been reported at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital or Weirton Medical Center as of Monday evening.
