Gov. Justice Visiting Marshall County On Thursday

Gov. Jim Justice will make two stops in Marshall County on Thursday, presenting funds for a new school, plus more for projects throughout the Northern Panhandle.

Justice's office announced his upcoming visit Wednesday afternoon.

His first stop will be at Center McMechen Elementary School at 10:30 a.m.. There, he will present Marshall County Schools with a check for $9,213,555 to be used to construct the new Benwood-McMechen Elementary School.

The West Virginia School Building Authority in December voted to approve an award of $111,687,534 to 19 counties for Fiscal Year 2024. Marshall County's cut will go toward the new elementary school.

Then, at noon, Justice will head to the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex. There, he will present the recommendation of 10 AML Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program projects that will utilize nearly $30 million in federal grant funding for economic development at abandoned mine land sites across the state.

Then, he will join West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History Curator Randall Reid-Smith to present 25 grants to artists and organizations in the Northern Panhandle totaling $738,969.
