BELLAIRE — Village of Bellaire police are investigating the shooting death of David Allen, 19, of Bellaire.

Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan said the man was shot to death on Saturday evening at the Francis Wallace Apartments, located on 41st Street. Brian Alexis Melott, 21, of Bellaire was arrested in connection with the shooting that happened about 9 p.m.

“He is being held without bond until further order of the court,” Flanagan said of the suspect. “We anticipate a court proceeding Monday.”

According to the Belmont County Jail, Melott is being held there and is charged with murder.

He is expected to be arraigned in Belmont County Eastern Division Court.

Bellaire police could not be reached Sunday afternoon for more information.
