The Ohio River is now officially at flood stage at Wheeling, as the National Weather Service has recorded the river at 36.72 feet at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Flood stage at Wheeling is 36 feet.
The NWS also has lowered its projection for the river’s crest, now predicting that it will reach 38.9 feet at 8 p.m. Saturday. That’s down from the 39.8 feet projected Friday evening. That crest remains in the minor flood stage.
The NWS has no rain in the forecast for Saturday, but predicts rain will return to the area sometime Sunday afternoon, with new rainfall totals between a quarter-inch and half-inch possible.
