Wheeling residents on Tuesday elected Dennis Magruder as the city's next mayor.
Magruder, 76, received 2,622 votes, topping a crowded field. Finishing second was current Wheeling 3rd Ward Councilwoman Rosemary Ketchum with 1,643 votes. JT Thomas finished third with 1,337 votes, Chad Thalman fourth with 1,065 votes, with Beth Hinebaugh and Carl Carpenter finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
The results are unofficial until votes are canvassed.
Magruder is the retired longtime executive director of the Greater Wheeling Sports and Entertainment Authority - which oversees WesBanco Arena and the Capitol Theatre.
He takes over the chair being vacated by current Mayor Glenn Elliott Jr., who will complete his second and final term in office at the end of June.
