WHEELING -- West Virginia's school superintendents have selected Ohio County Schools Superintendent Kim Miller to lead them for the next year, as Miller will serve as president of the West Virginia Association of School Administrators for the 2024-2025 school year.

"It's an honor to represent other administrators throughout West Virginia," she said. "I look forward to serving them to my fullest potential, and to serving my colleagues throughout the state."

The purpose of the WVASA and its members is to support current and aspiring public school administrators in West Virginia.

The organization advises state lawmakers while advocating for public education policy, according to Miller.

The WVASA also assists with professional networking and provides training for new administrators.

"We hold meetings, and assist with staff development," she said. "We also work with legislators on education code and policy to see that it best meets the needs of the state.

"We provide mentorship for new administrators, and provide legal updates on a regular basis."

She added her motto for leadership has always been "surround yourself with great people and great things will happen."

Miller's term as president of the WVASA is for one year, but during her stint she will not need to travel back and forth from Charleston.

Most of the organization's meetings take place on Zoom, or in Bridgeport, West Virginia - an area more centrally located for most all West Virginians.

"We always try to get more representation," Miller said. "It's an honor to be in this position."
