WHEELING — A 33-year-old Wheeling man has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at the Gumby’s on National Road in Woodsdale, city police said.

Andrew Mitchell Oates, 33, of Wheeling, is facing a felony charge of second-degree robbery.

Police believe Oates entered Gumby’s around 8:30 p.m. on March 9, handed a note to an employee and attempted to rob them. He fled the area shortly after. No one was injured.

Oates was transported to the Northern Regional Jail, pending a court arraignment.
