Elevated Levels Of Fecal Matter Found In Valley View Storm Drains
Aging infrastructure could be the cause of elevated levels of fecal matter found in storm drains in the Valley View Avenue area of Wheeling, the city announced Wednesday evening.
According to the city, officials were made aware of a sewage odor near Valley View Avenue, which crosses Washington Avenue near the shopping plaza there. The city’s water pollution control division conducted tests there and found elevated levels of fecal matter in the storm drains.
City officials are now addressing the problem and are working with engineering and construction firms to correct the situation, which may have been caused by aging infrastructure in the area, the city said.
All protocols for such a scenario are being followed.
