A Wheeling man is facing criminal charges after an incident Saturday evening in downtown Wheeling.

Zackary Allen Croghan, 19, remained in Northern Regional Jail as of Monday afternoon on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer and a felony charge of being a prohibited person in possession of a deadly weapon.

Around 6:50 p.m., officers patrolling Water Street were alerted to a person allgedly displaying a firearm in their waistband. Police approached Croghan, who attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. A firearm was allegedly located on Croghan with an extended magazine.

He was taken to the Northern Regional Jail and later arraigned by a magistrate. Bond was set at $10,000.
