WHEELING -- According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, both lanes of Interstate 70 westbound, near the Wheeling Tunnel, will experience intermittent closures from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, for tunnel maintenance. The W.Va. 2 northbound on-ramp to Interstate 70 west also will be closed during that time.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to slow down and expect delays. The alternate route is to use U.S. 40 (National Road) or Interstate 470 west.
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
