MOUNDSVILLE — The Marshall County Park and Recreation Board recently decided to close the Vue Bar & Grill at Grand Vue Park. And while there are plans for that area of the park, nothing yet is concrete, according to park officials.
According to the park’s social media, the board plans to demolish the building where the eatery was located in the future.
“This was not an easy decision and comes after thoughtful discussion about the current use of the space and the long-term vision for Grand Vue,” officials note in the post. “The building has been part of many memories over the years, and we are grateful to everyone who supported it.
“As Grand Vue continues to grow, this change creates an opportunity to re-imagine how this area can best serve the park, our visitors and the community in the years ahead. We appreciate your understanding and support as we take this next step forward.”
On Friday, Grand Vue Park Manager Craig White said the park board has several ideas for the location, but “nothing is set in stone.”
“We’re excited for this opportunity and excited to get started on the process,” he said.
White said one reason the building needs to be demolished is because of its condition. For example, the foundation is in bad shape. Also, it was never designed to be a restaurant as it was originally built to be a golf clubhouse in 1974. The building was not ADA-accessible and it was tough for older people to get in.”
“The master plan has a lot more to it. A full restaurant is part of the plan, but we’re not there yet,” he said. “We’re going to stick with the food trucks this year.”
Operators of the Vue eatery, who own Izzy’s Food Truck and Catering, also took to social media regarding the announcement.
“This decision was made by the park as part of its long-term vision for Grand Vue and was unfortunately outside of our control. While this was not an easy outcome, we respect the park’s responsibility to act in the best interest of its guests and the community.
“As a result, we will not be moving forward with the 2026 restaurant season at Grand Vue Park. “All equipment will be removed by March 1 to allow the park to proceed with the next steps and demolition of this space,” they wrote.
“We are incredibly grateful for the memories made, the support from our guests and the opportunity to be part of Grand Vue this past year. This chapter may be closing, but we truly believe that when one door closes, another opens. We are already in conversations regarding our next steps and are excited about what’s ahead.”
The post notes that Izzy’s Food Truck will continue operating.
Meanwhile, White said the park is still moving forward with its plans to build additional cabins. Bids for the work will be advertised in mid-February.
White added he was on his way to Washington, D.C., for the DC Travel and Adventure Show to promote all of Marshall County’s and city of Moundsville’s tourism offerings. He said some of his staff were also at the Pittsburgh RV Show doing the same.
