Update: Tornado Warning Expires, Tornado Watch Remains

The NWS tornado warning has expired. The tornado watch for the Ohio Valley remains in effect until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Marshall County in West Virginia, and Belmont and Monroe counties in Ohio, until 3:30 p.m. Strong storms and winds have been detected in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the Ohio Valley for Wednesday.

The watch, running until 5 p.m. Wednesday, includes Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties in West Virginia and Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson and Monroe counties in Ohio.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe.

There will be a southwest wind 15 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 34 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
