BCI Investigating Fatal Police Shooting in Steubenville
Photo by Ross Gallabrese The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations investigates an officer-involved shooting in Steubenville on Sunday evening.
No new details have been released of the officer-involved shooting that unfolded after a man allegedly brandishing a gun refused to comply with law enforcement and was shot and killed.
According to the initial press release issued by Steubenville Police Chief Ken Anderson, officers responded to a call about 5 p.m. Sunday regarding a person with a firearm in the 900 block of Brady Avenue.
When they arrived, the statement said, officers encountered the man, who ignored their commands, resulting in the shooting.
Officers performed life-saving measures, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident, Anderson said. Per department policy, the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, he added.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation in handling the investigation.
Officials have not released the name of the man killed.
