WHEELING - A group of St. Clairsville Crossfit gym members decided to tackle the Tough As Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan on Sunday during the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine.

Leading the charge was Josh Sanders, deputy chief of the Wheeling Police Department.

"It's fun and it's a way for us to remember folks who could not be here," he said, referring to the Memorial Day holiday observance.

Among his fellow gym members were Kyle Martin of Bethesda and John Henigin of St. Clairsville.

Martin said it was going to be his first time tackling the Tough As Nails. He decided not to look at the course ahead of time and instead just enjoy it as it revealed itself."

Henigin said he enjoys the Tough As Nails.

"It's a really great experience and you get to do it with some great people," he said.

Sanders added that last year he did all the events during the Ultra.

"It was 2.5 hours of running," he said, adding his favorite part of it was "the finish line."

This year he did the 5K run on Saturday.
